Finished

Woke early and packed up for the last time, then had a hot cross bun and some tea before setting off. Stunning sunny weather, and I listened to the new book group book (A Town Called Solace by Mary Lawson) most of the way so it would have been a very relaxing drive were it not for the problems getting fuel. Passed many garages that either had none or at least no diesel, so had to drive really carefully to eke it out and reach a garage that had some. Didn’t manage to do that til Newark, having stopped at S’s place to see all the conversion work she’s done in the house - looking amazing - and get a feel for the neighbourhood. We had a lovely walk to a vegan cafe for coffee and cake and a natter about holiday plans, renovations and house buying, family, work and book group.
The rest of the drive, once I’d got the diesel, went very smoothly with very little traffic. Quite enjoying the book, so I was annoyed when my phone battery died (despite being connected apparently to the charging cable) and I missed the last 45 mins of it, since otherwise I’d timed it beautifully to finish just as I arrived home.
Good to be back, even though it’s been a lovely week away. The flat was all tidy and A had done the food shopping, so it was perfect to just sit down for a cup of tea and catch up with her and cuddle Paisley who seemed very pleased to see me. She’d finished her model and this is a panoramic view of it to try and get it all into view…amazingly detailed and she’s done it really well…think she’s hooked on this now!
We took Paisley out for a walk around the crags in the park, then home for a huge salad Nicoise and then we watched the Sandi Toksvig miniature modelling programme on TV before an early night.
