Y Gogarth

Most of the day is dull with intermittent rain, but by early evening the sun makes an appearance and we decide to head out for a walk. We’re aiming for - surprise, surprise - West Shore, when suddenly I decide I’d like a quick drive around the Great Orme first. I have no idea what beauty lies in store in the wonderful  evening light, and the ‘quick drive’ turns into something considerably longer.

The views are stunning - silvery grey shimmers on the sea towards Anglesey; heavy clouds almost covering the Carneddau; towering cumulonimbus cloud; sunlit cliffs against a darkened sky. And to add to this there are the local Herdwicks with their lambs, and several of the famous feral goats grazing on the steep slopes,  their silky coats backlit by the evening sun.

By now it feels too late to take on a beach walk, so we turn for home - but to make the expedition perfect, we suddenly catch sight of a small group of goats raiding the town gardens. I’m sure many of you will be familiar with the news stories of the goats taking over the town during lockdown. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/gallery/2020/mar/31/mountain-goats-of-great-orme-hit-llandudno-in-pictures

Back home I’m left with the task of sifting through the spoils of tonight’s adventure - and choosing my main really is a challenge. I’ve gone for a view of the cloud formations from the Orme, with lots more in the extras (sorry) - including goats grazing in gardens!
