York Minster

After BB had his three course breakfast we headed to York to visit TT’s mum.  It was another lovely day and we had a good journey.  It was lovely to see her again.  We’ve only visited her once before in her new abode by the river, and it was in the depths of winter.  Everything looked so different today with the sun shining and leaves on the tress.  It was lovely to sit with her balcony doors open, catching up in the sunshine while watching boats going up and down the river.  We went out for lunch and all ate too much – well probably not BB – who had two courses and could have probably eaten a third.  We then walked Grandma back to her apartment and we went out for a walk which took us up the river, across the Millennium Bridge,  through Rowntree Park, and then back into the centre of York.  We wandered a little ending up outside the Minster, which TT claimed to have never visited.  However, I am sure I have visited with him.  We then enjoyed a walk around the walls, popping back to the shops for a few things for a picnic tea.

Grandma thought we had got lost.  She also had a few things in for tea, so there was rather too much food in the end.  BB made good inroads into it though, but we ended up taking some away with us.  We sat a while longer in the sunshine, before saying our goodbyes.  The boys couldn’t find anything to watch on TV this evening, but I finished my book – which was an easy read, and a real  page turner.

We were all a bit weary as none of us had slept terribly well last night, so an early night was on the cards.

This is a view of York Minster from the walls.  It will be gone very soon, once the leaves come out.
