A day in the life

Hatching

The poor pigeon in the birch right outside my bathroom window has had a trying day, It's been blowing a gale all day and the nest is rather exposed and not very well built, as often is the case with pigeons nests. She, or he has been lying flat all day, mostly even with the head down. I managed to get a shot when it was lifting its head, probably looking for its mate for a relief and a chance for some food. Normally they hatch for 19 days, I feel a bit involved, after all they are my closest neighbours.
