7 cygnets

This morning I decided to go for a bike ride round the local parks in search of swans nesting or with cygnets. For the last year there has been 5 swans in Bushy and Home Park. This year some of the nests from previous years are deserted. However one lot of cygnets has hatched  on the Hampton Wick Pond near the gates of Home Park and there is another swan sitting on a nest by the Diana Foundtain on Bushy Park…see extra. This nest actually has sturdy railings positioned around it , for protection,  although not visible in the photo.

I also saw quite a few Canada geese with their goslings and many coot nests. One coot has nested again at the base of one of the fountains on the Long Water in Home Park so I’m sure those eggs will not hatch as they will get a battering for the fountains each day!

After I went into Kingston, the first time for ages and by mid day it was busier than I have seen on a weekday. But still lots of empty shops and not too many people in the market area.

Changeable weather…intermittently sunny and windy…but I must  go to the allotment to plant out some courgettes, cucumbers and purple sprouting seedlings. And water lots.
