Gently down the stream

Lazy bones,

Sleeping in the sun How you 'spect to get your day's work done?

You must remember the Supremes singing that, don't you?  It was the first phrase I thought of seeing this cygnet today, but if you want shots of him/her waking up, they're in Extras.

Sadly this little sweetheart is the only cygnet I've seen this year. In last week's local paper the headline was that Winchester College has just caused a storm for getting a swans' nest moved off the canal less that 2 weeks before the cygnets were due to hatch, and this week the headline was about a 17 year old shooting swans, ducks etc, with an unlicensed air rifle.  Wonderful ;(

And this little charmer is a lone baby.  It's parents nested in the reserve.  Mum left an egg in the nest that presumably wasn't going to hatch, and I don't know what happened to their third one.

So this was the good bit of my day.  The rest was going to the Doctor, collecting prescriptions, getting new supplies of flea and work tablets for Hazel, dragging myself from bus to bus.  Very boring.

Hope your day's been good though.  And take care of yourselves  xx
