The Enchanted Rocks

Today’s walk was a cracker, but much longer than I expected. (Should have read the itinerary more carefully!)

We walked from Rupit through cool woods, both oak and beech, gradually climbing to a monastery, The Sanctuary of La Mare de Déu de La Font de La Salut.

The views of the Pyrenees were spectacular and we had lunch here with the views to enjoy.

In the afternoon, the beech woods were amazing, with very tall trees on the hillside.

Then we arrived at The Enchanted Rocks. They are enormous. We were left to wander through them in silence (Bert’s request). It was a peaceful experience.

Later still, we sat high up un the hills while griffin vultures soared overhead. First 2, then 6 and finally 14. What a magnificent sight.

The walk was 18 km at least. I have not walked as far in years…..and I survived (just) but was too tired to blip.
