Fun filled Saturday

A chilled start to the weekend and everyone’s holiday.

Eda helped daddy to make waffles and then we ate them outside for breakfast. Eda had her own ideas about toppings so out came the cake decorations. I had blackberry jam but she insisted I had a bit of embellishment on it, my second one I just had maple syrup!
(I remarked that the little pinnie Eda is wearing used to touch the ground, we had to fold it over at the waist. She always insisted on wearing it when ever she used her play kitchen)

Another lovely day so we took the girls down to Alice Park or rather John took them on the electric bike whilst Grace and I walked own with Eda’s pedal bike. Eda was able to practice a bit of pedalling on the grass and then Grace wanted to have a go at riding the electric bike. Of course Jude wanted to be on too! After a play at the sandpit Grace then took both girls home on the bike. I had to walk both ways but at least someone else carried Eda’s bike.

We had lunch outside and Chris arrived in time to join us, awful traffic on the M5. Eda complained it was too hot and John has spent some time thus afternoon rigging up a canopy to give shade over the eating area.

Chris had brought down a present we have got for Jude’s birthday - it’s not until September but it is a water play table and we decided she should have it to play with all through the summer.
She’ll love it, in the collage she has found a puddle made by the watering can whilst watering some patio pots this morning she had to splash in it.

Much fun was had later when the neighbours’ children came around and a great deal of wetness occurred to one and all. More of that later.

We had a fabulous BBQ sourced from a lady who is a neighbour and used to supply authentic Indian food to a local pub until lockdown. We have had a take away from her before but this time it was Indian style BBQ food. Amazing!

Everyone has stayed up and outside until late, even after the sun went down. Grace’s neighbours have family over from Ireland so we had a good chat to them. Various children came and went; played in the water; ate food if they fancied it;  it’s just how it seems to work here,  so friendly.

We saw 5 hot air balloons go over as the sun was getting lower. A great finale to a super day.

Great news, Grace got the message this morning to say that she has got the part she auditioned for last Tuesday night. Mabel in the musical Mack and Mabel. That’s me booked for October then
