Motorhome & Campervan Show

I left the campsite near Bath this morning and headed to Newbury Showground, which thankfully was on the route home anyway. I met my camping-buddy there as we were booked into the Southern Motorhome & Campervan Show. Neither of us had been to one before so we didn’t really know what to expect. We had day tickets but many bring their motorhomes and make a weekend festival of it!

Sadly, it was a damp day with rain occasionally, but we didn’t get a heavy downpour so it could have been worse. We browsed a few motorhomes and campervans, but neither of us are buying so it was just window shopping!  We liked the micro-caravans, especially the Go-Pod (in blue), which I’d seen before and love, although not this particular colour!  The Mink Sports camper was new to me and was interesting, but not for me!

There was lots of food on offer and I chose a delicious pizza and found out that the owners used to have a pizza restaurant near me in Maidenhead - I knew it but had never visited which I now regret as the pizza was delicious. They closed the restaurant because of covid and are now mobile and said that it’s doing well and is a lot less stressful!  The gorgeous dog in the picture was sharing the table with us in the eating tent and I was sharing my pizza with her (with her dad’s permission!).

The sleeping dogs were cosy while their mum and dad were busy selling sausages - I guess they must get plenty at home!  Sadly I didn’t get any ice-cream from this vintage ice-cream van which I now regret - I also wish I’d bought some of those sausages!  My friend bought some so I’ll be hinting for a dinner invitation!

There were LOTS of stands selling all sorts of camping accessories. I didn’t buy much but my friend did!  Including a pop-up toilet/utility tent. She received some good instruction on how to fold it back up and was very successful - see Extra photo. My camping-buddy LOVES orange and it’s a colour theme with her caravan. The sellers said they’d only ever sold one other orange tent so they were happy that she came along!
