Sgwarnog: In the Field

Clouded

Today’s extended wander took me down to the nature reserve, along to the river to Esholt and back home via Hollins Hill and Tong Park.

The woods at Esholt provided the best butterfly activity of the day, with (overdue) first sightings for the the year of Red Admiral and Brimstone, along with Speckled Wood, Orange-tip, Peacock, Green-veined White and Small Tortoiseshell. This Clouded Border moth (main image) was another highlight.

At Tong Park, the first Large Skipper butterflies of the year were out along with a fresh brood of ducklings (extra). And for those of you who were worried about Grey Horse, she was up and about with the rest of the herd today (extra).

Later, I treated myself to some live music, heading down to The Live Room in Saltaire to see singer-songwriter Suzie Ungerleider (who has previously recorded/performed as Oh Susanna) offer up songs and stories (extra). A good evening.
