View from the Beach at Whipple Dam

On this day, we broke our streak of swimming in a different park every time. We love Whipple Dam, and we decided to go back. And we added a new twist: we tried the baby back ribs at nearby Doan's Bones Barbecue.

The swim was lovely, and the place wasn't very crowded. Here is a view from the beach, of the sunbathers who were lying in front of us and some people in canoes. It looks peaceful, doesn't it? Across the lake, you can see one of the rustic pavilions built by the CCC boys.

A thing that I enjoy about Whipple Dam is that when I swim there, it's like swimming in rain water. It makes my hair very soft and silky. So there was that, as an added bonus.

After our swim, we stopped by Doan's Bones and tried a quarter rack of baby back ribs. T. Tiger played among the wooden creatures there: three tortoises, a pig, and a chicken (I think). It was like they were there just for him. The ribs were great and we are already scheming to go back and try them again.

Here's a song for summer at the beach: Bruce Springsteen, with Girls in Their Summer Clothes.
