Behind the eight ball

The hat-trick of great days was completed in style today bookended by two trips to the pool.

In between times, there was a trip to the sweet shop to raid the pic n mix, and a fab feast at lunch before we divided and conquered with my Dad and I taking the wee ones off for a game of pool, whilst everybody else took the niece off for an aerial assault course (for 5 year olds).

The Youngest threatened to go full-McEnroe again, but this time with a pool cue. Fortunately we were able to sedate her and actually get four games of pool in and have a little fun into the bargain.

Shit got serious after that as the two parties met at the bowling alley and were split into boys versus girls and the result was……unimportant as the main point was that we all had fun. The six month old nephew did well as he was passed from pillar to post in between rolls. World’s most chilled-out baby, bar none.

Tears came as the cruel grabbers robbed The Youngest of a cuddly toy and she was devastated that she had wasted her tokens, despite going back for another go, having lost the first two!

Tasty curry and beers were had at dinner, but with the younger side of the family needing settling for the night and with there still being enough left of the day, I asked if the offspring wanted to go for a night time swim - it was a stupid question really and even The Eldest joined us.

Somehow the curry and beer remained inside of me as we were bumped down rapids and thrown around flumes before being spat out into landing pools. It was great fun and really quiet too.

I could tell that The Youngest had been defeated by the day’s play as she reverted to a baby voice and refused to stop talking. There were no arguments about going to bed.

Hat-trick completed.
