A day in the life

We went to see one of the more remarkable churches this morning, the Notre Dame of the plain, referring to its place, in the middle of precious farmland. I’ve blipped about it once more here: https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2947249217996850313
but that time I didn’t go inside.

It really is a spectacular building and is full of paintings, among many, a series of paintings from the Passion of the Christ, made in 1743. This one is of the holy communion and my personal interpretation is that the artist is joking a bit. When you look closely, our Jesus has two right feet.

In the altar painting he also painted in the priest, who probably ordered the painting. Talk about a cameo.
