Exmoor

Today we climbed from Minehead to Bossington Hill.  I admit, we did it by car!  On the way we stopped near North Hill, where I took this photograph.  The moor is very dry and yellow but the heather and gorse is looking lovely.

I was taken by these small trees growing on the top of the hill.

Afterwards we visited Selworthy.  It is a small, very attractive village with a substantial church and a number of thatched buildings.  The place seemed fairly deserted, but we found a cafe (not well advertised or signposted) which was full of visitors.  Clearly, this is a well known destination.  We had to leave the village via a narrow lane marked as "unsuitable for motors" because a car had become wedged against a stone wall on the main road from the village and there was a long wait for a local farmer to bring his tractor to extract the vehicle and allow other cars to pass.

The joys of rural life.
