Animal, vegetable or mineral?

What is this (apart from an emergency blip that is)?

The rain came. It rained steadily all morning and the day was dark. We were glad to see the lawn greening and the young rowan tree perked up too. It had been looking very stressed in recent days.

I have been thinking back to a trip to Botswana in 1984 when there was a drought. We took showers using a hand held shower head and the water drained into a plastic washing up bowl. The water, soap and all, went on the vegetable patch, as did water from washing up and clothes washing. It was amazing to see the vegetables grow.

I'm glad we are not as short of water here.

We both had a lazy morning. I did some photo editing this afternoon.

This evening saw me at Margret's (next door) to show her how to save scans to the computer. She wanted to be five steps ahead of where we were (and she reads this journal)!
