PINKTOBER - DAY 6

Hello Lovely Blippers,

Laura Lamb and Reeth here again - and also Leyburn.  He said that he was a bit upset that we had left him behind, seeing as he was a Yorkshire born lad, so we decided to take him out with us today - we even managed to find a pink ribbon to put in his ear - and you know why!

It was a very windy night - in fact, it was quite wild up here in North Yorkshire - and the rain lashed down - Mrs. HCB said it woke her up, but good old Mr. HCB slept through it all - but then he would.

They stayed in the lodge for the morning and gradually the wind blew the dark clouds away and then there was a beautiful blue sky with fluffy clouds.  You could tell how windy it was though, because the clouds were fair scudding across the sky, but at least it kept the rain away.

The HCBs went to collect their friend, Sue and then you won’t believe that they took her to meet their other friends, Val, Marjorie C and Marjorie H and they were going out to eat - AGAIN - at Ulnaby Medievel Farm Shop.  That seems to be all they do in this neck of the woods - go out to farm shops, eat and then mooch around the shop.  Mind you, the food is consistently good in farm shops, but Reeth was a bit upset today because  Mr. & Mrs. HCB decided to have a roast pork bap - I ask you, roast port when a poor little pig is about - don’t you think that’s a bit disrespectful?

It was rather strange too, because although the roast pork was very nice, they said, it also had gravy in the bap - which made it a bit soggy, but again, that’s obviously the way they do it “oop north” - Mrs. HCB said they wouldn’t dream of doing it like that down in Wiltshire!  They just have good old roast pork with stuffing and perhaps a bit of apple sauce - ah well, when in Yorkshire, you have to do what the people in Yorkshire do.

Mrs. HCB has kindly made a collage and you can see us in the top picture looking at her roast pork bap - but Reeth is holding his arms out as if to say “Oh no, not another one of my cousins!”

Mr. HCB was very brave, we thought, because there were 5 ladies and him - and we noticed he was quite quiet, but I guess he thought that it was better to be quiet and eat his roast pork than try and interrupt any of the ladies when they were in full flow - and believe me, they often were!  Not that we mean to be rude, of course, because that’s what ladies do, chat and eat and drink tea or coffee.

When we had finished we all went outside and Mrs. HCB managed to find some pink flowers, so she sat us in the middle of them, as you can see.  Then just as they were about to leave the place, Mr. HCB noticed there was a donkey in the field, so Mrs. HCB jumped out of the car - not while it was moving, you understand - so that she could take a shot of it for her friend, Gill.  What a same we didn’t bring Sid with us, he would have loved to have had a “good old hee-haw” with one of his cousins - but at least he didn’t have to suffer seeing him between a sliced bap!

We know that Mrs. HCB “clicks” on the Breast Cancer website every single day and sometimes more than once a day, which you can do, and we hope all of you are clicking at least once every day too.  You can find it HERE, and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you what to do, but it does mean that those who cannot afford to pay for a mammogram, can have one for free.

Mr & Mrs HCB were a bit sad, because it is the last time they will see the two Marjories and Val, but no doubt they will come “oop north” sometime next year and meet up again - and we are sure they will find some more farm shops to visit!

When they got back to their lodge, it was still “blowing a hoolie”, which we believe is an expression from much further north in Scotland, so the HCBs decided not to go in the hot tub - but hopefully the wind will have dropped by tomorrow, so they can go in then.

Thank you for all your kind comments yesterday - we are all having a super time here and will be sad to go home, but all good things come to an end, as we all know.

The human spirit is stronger
than anything that can happen to it.”

Love from Laura Lamb, Reeth and Leyburn xxx

P.S.  Mrs. HCB wrote a poem for a dear friend yesterday after she saw some crepuscular rays shining through the clouds, and she saw some even better ones today - see her extra shot.
