Beside and Above - Kamloops Lake

A drive to the lake
in sunshine with bright, blue sky
and an above look...

My brother and I were lazy this morning. We drained the coffee pot twice, then headed off for a late breakfast.

Our trip today was to the east end of Kamloops Lake. We drove past Tranquille and the wetlands. Then we took the horrendous roadway out to Cooney Bay.  We parked in the shade and walked out to the shoreline. There were American pelicans on the lake with the usual Canada geese. One fisherman was set up along the shore near the end of Tranquille River. (actually a creek but called a river) Cooney Bay looked blue and calm with beautiful reflections. We caught the southbound freight in reflection in the bay.

We walked back to the parking lot, picking our way around driftwood and rocks while keeping an eye out for a bear. I got a photo of the former Tranquille Sanitorium as we were starting back on the awful road.

We drove up the Red Lake Road to the first landing to get a shot overlooking Cooney Bay. As we drove back down I saw a railway truck coming out of Battle Bluff on the tracks kicking up a lot of dust.

We were home just before 2 PM and we're both entitled to a nap this afternoon.

We are enjoying a mainly sunny day with a high of 24 C.
