GRAFITTI

Newcastle were playing at home today against Brentford.  As usual had trouble with the buses to town.  Two buses didn't turn up at all.  When I checked the app it showed 4 buses in the pipeline.... two of them with the same arrival time at my stop..  The first bus arrived - empty - and sped straight past.  The following bus stopped but it was already full with passengers standing in the aisle. The four of us who were waiting  got  everyone had to " budge up ".  Luckily a kind young lady gave up her seat for me.  The bus stopped at the next two stops and a couple of people got on.  More " budging up". Finally the driver decided he couldn't get any more on so he had to leave folk standing at the next few stops until passengers started getting off. Finally got to Newcastle and instead of having time to spare I had to go straight to St James Park.

I did manage to quickly get my blip shot beforehand though.  Thought I would blip this graffiti I spotted on a boarded up shop.  The words are a Geordie saying meaning " if you don't ask -- you don't get".  ( a bairn is a child and nowt means nothing )

The atmosphere at the ground was great and Wor Flags had a special display - a huge flag covering the whole of the Gallowgate Stand to commemorate it being one year since the takeover of the club by the new owners. They have brought big changes to the club and plenty of hope for the future.

The match was a good one - Newcastle started off slowly but gradually their confidence grew and Brentford ended up being outclassed.  The final score was Newcastle 5  Brentford 1.

I popped into Waitrose after the match and then geared myself up for a long wait to get home.  In fact getting home wasn't too bad - one bus was cancelled and the next one was15 mins late. Thats as good as it gets with the buses round here at the moment.

The weather today was quite nice.  It was dry with some sunshine this afternoon.  Good weather for watching a footie match.
