The Elf Explorer

The family arrived at midnight and although the girls
seemed remarkably awake they soon settled down to sleep whilst Grace and I had a Baileys!

Up early as we were off to Oxenhope for the Elf Explorer on the Keighley and  Worth Valley Railway - think Railway Children.

It was very busy but we’ll organised and we soon entered the ‘Winter Wonderland’. The girls got a sticker to say they were ‘Nice’ to help Santa when he boarded the train in Kringle Town. They also had a Golden ticket to allow them some treats.

We were accompanied by some wonderful and talented singing elves and a giant Rudolph who Jude wasn’t too sure of!

We had juice, mulled wine and mince pies on the route and when we arrived in Kringle Town Santa came on board with his elves carrying sacks full of presents. The girls decided to be shy again but were very happy with their gifts. Eda called her dog in a basket Elfie in her vets set and Jude called her teddy bear Choo Choo.

When we got off we went to look at the steam engine at the front. Lots of steam.

A fabulous morning. Frosty white over in Oxenhope and even a bit of snow.  I was very warm on the train, there was even steam coming out from under my seat.! Quite different to last year without the Covid restrictions. They really do a fantastic job as you can see from the collage.

A chilled afternoon after homemade tomato soup for lunch and Jude has gone for a nap. There has been some rain and sleet and even a few flakes of snow through the afternoon.

Alex is coming for dinner though he is working today. We will eat early as he and maybe a few others may want to watch a certain football match!

A long way for them to come but so glad they came. Jude shouted Granny as soon as she got out of the car, that was enough for me.

Eda has had her school Nativity this week. She was an Angel and I’ve seen several videos of her giving it her all with the actions to the songs, she’s going to take after her mother!
