Norwich family shopping day

We had a late night, and an early morning. Up and out at 8am picking Daniel up from Cromer on the way. We parked in Norwich and walked to Marmalades, our favourite breakfast venue in the pretty setting of the Royal Arcade. Bacon sandwiches all round except for Jon who had a
healthier scrambled eggs on toast.

As we were leaving Jenny, Gemma and Laura appeared. They had also had an early start from Cambridge and were ready for a coffee. So we went straight to John Lewis where we forced ourselves to have a coffee with them! Then a nice catch up. We don't see each other often enough, so there is always lots to talk about.

We managed to start our shopping eventually, and kept coming back together for lunch and tea breaks. The city was bustling and sparkly, and it felt like a nice boost to the festive feeling. I love the city of Norwich so much since becoming properly aquainted with its historical treasures, just 7 years ago. A walk up Elm Hill was essential, and in the centre it was a million miles from the enforced distancing in 2020, and still hesitancy to mix in 2021.

We parted company at about 4pm. A foggy drive home, and I now need to check the others got home safely. It was a lovely day. Looking forward to seeing them again on 27th when the Gibbs family meet in Cambridge.

I've lit a fire, we had egg and chips for tea, and now I'm catching up on last night's TV (Agatha Christie, Susan Calman and Kistie Allsop). And no, I'm not watching the football - but Mollie is keeping me updated. Thank goodness.
