Grace

Work last night was ridiculously quiet apart from the hour between 6 and 7PM. We managed to get cleaned up before midnight and were ready to lock the door before the post-midnight zombie hordes could descend on the shop I'm glad to say! I was outside the shop waiting for Brian to arrive to escort me home by 12.15AM on New Year's Day.

It was not too cold for walking home but I was very glad to arrive there. We had a couple of drinks and chilled out for a while. Minstrel was not very chilled out - we had to lure him out of hiding with some cat treats and he was still hyper vigilant, returning to his new safe-space on the landing once he'd had the snack.

Grace was out at her friends' place and did not return home until 4 AM. Hence, she had a good lie-in this morning. We were up before her but did not do a lot. Since Brian and I met it has been our tradition to have lunch at Burger King on New Years' Day. We can no longer do that as the town one only does take-away today and the one we used to go to at the St Marks Centre is now closed like most other stores there.

We went to McDonalds instead. I had a Veggie Burger as I am now vegetarian! I've not eaten much meat for a while. Other than kebab and sausages I don't even really enjoy meat so it seems pointless to carry on eating it for the sake of it. I won't be going the full vegan hog, mainly because of cheese... Anyway, the veggie burger was pretty good!

Afterwards we went to see Brian's Mum as she had not yet met Grace. She was well and happy, if surprised to see us! I took the photo of Grace on the walk to her flat.

On our way home we picked up Maccies for Zeph and have since just sat on the sofa and chilled out! Now we will watch a movie. It's the last night of Grace's stay - tomorrow she will drive me over to my Dad's at Metheringham and then go back to her second home* in Leeds.

We are not posh! She doesn't have a house in Leeds and a rural retreat in Lincs! This is our family home, and she lives in  Leeds with her partner Sophia!
