Romagna

Colstro has been a keen contributor to our photo album of locations mentioned in Lorna Lloyd's Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series). To date he has supplied pictures of Sand Bay, Gloucester, and the Caxton Hall to h.hall@napier.ac.uk.

Colstro now appears to have infected his wife with his enthusiasm for our project. The guide book and the old train ticket for a journey from Lyon to the city pictured here both belong to Colstro's wife. Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna, and thus allows us to tick Romagna off our list of locations to blip. Thank you Mr and Mrs Colstro!

Lorna mentions Romagna in her diary entry of June 11th 1940 when writing about Mussolini's eagerness to bomb undefended villages in enemy territory. She questions whether he will feel the same when the villages targeted are Italian. This war diary entry features in Episode 6 of our podcast series.
