A dusting of snow
on my windshield was not what
I wanted to see!

I was up at 8 and peeked out the window. The sun was shining bright but overnight a light coat of snow had landed on my vehicle. By the time I was packed up and out the door, there was little left of it and the roads were already clear and dry.

The hotel lobby provided me with hot coffee and breakfast in a bag. I tucked the bag away, finished the coffee, then turned onto the highway and took my leave of Ely, Nevada.

At the point where Hwy 93 splits in two, I stopped for a photo of the snowy mountains and the dry open range. Most of the trip today looked just like that. Sun and some cloud and lots of blue sky made the drive an easy one.

I pulled into Jackpot, Nevada, just before the Idaho border. D and I have stopped here before. We used their campground when we were pulling a travel trailer. We've also stayed at the Cactus Pete's casino. Gambling is a mainstay in Nevada. I'd heard that Jackpot was created for those in Idaho that wanted to gamble. (Prostitution is also legal in Nevada, but that's a whole other story!)

There were a lot of cattle out on the range lands today. Most were black angus and there were many calves to be counted.

Close to Twin Falls, Idaho, the sky suddenly turned black. I caught a few wet snowflakes on the windshield, but a lot of hail landed before I got into the motel.

I'm just past the halfway mark for the trip home.

I'll go look for a restaurant and a gas fill up. Then I'm done for the day.
