Budding

Busy morning, with calls from P’s carer first thing about missing medication from the delivery yesterday and more info on shopping needed, then seeing via the camera that T arrived to visit him and listened in briefly to P complaining to him about all the same old things ….sigh! At least T then did the shopping required so that was one thing done. I went over to meet NM for coffee as she wanted some advice on how to manage the toxic culture she feels she’s working in and I think helped her see a way to avoid getting drawn in, then home to spend an hour working through the EIF programme and pencil in what I’d like to see before out again to meet JC for lunch in what I always think of as the historian’s cafe (passing AJ on the way in). We had a lovely catch up, chatting about family, travels, colleagues, wrecking tactics in committees and small world coincidences. Lovely to see him.
It was another unexpectedly sunny morning so I’d walked over there via the Meadows to see how the blossom was coming on. It’s still not fully out but there’s a blush of pink on all the trees and some blousy blooms. It will soon be perfect as long as wind and rain don’t arrive to destroy it. Walked down to town after lunch via the library for some Orkney books then spent an hour at Trailfinders exploring the Borneo plans and getting some ballpark figures and dates. Exciting! Home for tea and some chats about EIF tickets with S, C and CK….it’s going to be a busy August!
Made a chicken risotto from the leftover roast whilst I chatted to A on her way home about the latest P shenanigans then finished watching Magpie Murders on iPlayer…rather good….and a long chat to V about Borneo plans.
