Blue

Today has been just how a perfect day in May should be, sunshine, warmth, blossoms, fresh greens and lots of wild flowers.
A perfect day to visit Middleton Woods in Ilkley to see the exceptional bluebells after completing the circular walk through the ‘posh’ houses of Ilkley and past the Calvary at Myddleton Lodge/Grange. A bit of a climb but worth it for views across the town.

The culmination of the walk in the woods is like no other Bluebell area I know, your senses are hit as soon as you go over the stile; a wonderful scent and the deepest of blues in every direction. I can’t pretend to have picked the best picture to show on blip, could have chosen any of them, they never quite hit the mark but at the same time all are fabulous. You just have to be there to experience it.

We were going to leave it another week but today’s forecast was good and several local blippers have already posted the bluebells so I knew they were ready.

Returning across the riverside park we continued on to the Riverside cafe for a coffee. There was quite a queue for fish  and chips, perhaps we could try them some time. Chris needed to be back to make his casserole for tomorrow’s luncheon club so we couldn’t indulge today.
