Marjorie's ramblings

A demolition job!

Our day started at 0200 when Mum fell in her bedroom. She has a buzzer to press to call me.

At first I could not see her; she was wedged between her walking trolley, the commode and the bed. There was a lot of blood from three biggish wounds.

By the time I had lifted her back into bed, staunched the bleeding, made tea, applied suitable dressings and cleaned the carpet, two hours had flown by. Falling is such a horrible experience.

When I woke again at 0745, I decided to go on today’s walk. George and Mary took us on a lovely route from the hamlet of Tindale and around the RSPB reserve.

After yesterday, we were shocked by cooler temperatures and sharp showers. Everything was fresh and the views were good.

One highlight was seeing a red squirrel in the trees. It was too far away to photograph, but it did not run away for a couple of minutes.

There is plenty of evidence of previous mining activity in this peaceful area as curlews flew overhead and the cuckoos called. Cliff thought he would give the demolition a helping hand!
