Lekking Longhorns

We spotted male yellow-barred longhorn moths lekking this morning. The name doesn't describe them very well, they're actually gold, chestnut and metallic blue. They were bouncing up and down in the air round a female. It's amazing how they manage to fly at all with antennae many times the length of their bodies. The females don't have long antennae.

I shot the jackdaw through the double-glazing. It was making the most of being alone at my makeshift feeding station.

I heard a Dakota coming and ran indoors to get the camera. Just managed a shot before it disappeared behind the trees.
