Posforth Falls

A fabulous favourite walk this morning thanks to Wilsden Walker who invited 4 of us along with her.
We parked at Barden Bridge to do the usual Strid Woods to Cavendish Pavillion walk and back on the Bolton Abbey estate but today we added an extra mile up to Posforth Falls, shown on the map as the Valley of Desolation.
We have walked to Simon’s Seat with the children many years ago but completely missed this waterfall. Also we have a tree planted in the Valley of Desolation for Chris’s dad but no idea where.

Turning off on the route, just before reaching the Cavendish Pavillion, to follow the path up to Simon’s Seat we took a slightly tricky path down from the main one to see the falls up close. You can see them from above too but the heavy summer foliage hides them a little - extra

The other ladies were Wilsden Walker and her friend C, Corinthian Column and rose54 - extra.

To round off a fabulous walk we went to The Tea Cottage in Bolton Abbey, as is our traditional, for tea and scones with a view - the Abbey and Priory by the River Wharf - extra

Great start to the weekend. Have a good one everyone.
