Walk along the canal

..for a packet of cereal.

The last walk Chris and I did was on a similar hot and sunny day last month but on the Kennet and Avon Canal. Today we were back on the Leeds Liverpool canal but walking in a slightly different direction to the usual ones around Bingley and Saltaire.
We drove to Kildwick and left the car to walk along the canal tow path to Skipton.

It was a fairly quiet, not that many walkers and just a few boats negotiating the swivel bridges.

As we got nearer to Skipton there seemed to be a sudden traffic jam of boats. Mainly day boats out of Skipton, I’m sorry to say a boat full of ladies drove straight into the bank at about 45 degrees saying they were just learning!

Behind this rush was the large barge shown here. ‘Endeavour’. Before it was close enough to read the name Chris had speculated what it was.  An all access boat, a project which apparently our ex vicar has been working with. He wasn’t on board but they were very chatty and friendly, as were most people on the passing boats. I felt it was worthy of my blip as well as being a worthy cause.

Soon we were in Skipton, though it was further than Chris expected, and on our way to Tescos. They do a gf cereal that granddaughter Eda likes and Grace has been unable to get. They had one packet! They are apparently re branding! I hope they do something very similar that she likes and don’t increase the cost too much, gf and other Freefrom items are highly priced already.

The trip was a sort of success then. A nice walk, if rather hot, a drink and lunch in Skipton before getting the bus back and with the required packet of cereal!
