I picked my brother up after breakfast and we were on our way across the border into Washington state just before noon.

It's been a day with warm sunshine and beautiful views.  We drove through farmland and fruit growing areas. We followed the Skyhomish River for some length. I scrambled down to the river at one point to capture some lovely scenes of mountains and water and forest. My brother had to come help me back up the slope, but the photos were worth the efforts.

Our day's drive took us along Highway 2 right up and over the Steven's Pass (about 4,000 ft elevation) We paused long enough to get a shot of the development beside the pass. We drove through the town of Leavenworth, a Bavarian-type village and very pretty. They were busy putting up their Christmas lights. There was snow dusted on the upper elevations. It looked beautiful in the sunshine. The roads were bare and dry and the seasonal changes in the forest  were very dramatic, especially along the river.

Our journey today ended in Wenatchee, Washington. We're tucked in here for the night.
