Life in Sunny Dubai

Recovering

After a very late night and rather early start (a/c mechanic said he would come at 10am but never showed), I really needed a quiet day. Fortunately so did G! Poor thing, big birthday for her and we've hardly done anything for it. It didn't help that I woke with an awful sore throat and an aching body.

So, after her Saturday student left and we had our lunch, we visited the post office - where she had 2 cards - then stopped by the Creek as we hadn't been there for AGES a long time. Then called into Panini at the Grand Hyatt as it is not possible to have a birthday without some form of cake. This came as a Grand Truffle Cake which could easily be renamed Death by Chocolate.

Home for a rest and to catch up with blips (can't believe it's been four days!) and then we got ready to be picked up by friend Miriam & her mum in their Lincoln limo nonetheless and we headed back to the Creek, this time to have a three course meal on a dhow floating restaurant. Fab evening, fab company, the air/visibility were remarkably clear after the rain we've had, great food. G had a good birthday after all. Now I must get to bed, as I have to be at the Hyatt Regency for 7:30am all dressed up smart to welcome our customers delegates. I am so not a morning person.
