Vanishing Ice at the Lightcatcher Museum

Today we all slept really late. I'm guessing we needed it. :) We spent a leisurely morning and then went down town in Bellingham to the Vanishing Ice exhibit at the Lightcatcher Museum, part of the Whatcom Museum of History and Art. Arvin, Helena and I had seen the exhibit before on opening night, but then it was so crowded that we really couldn't take our time to see the art. This is an exhibit co-sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution all about the loss of our glaciers around the world. It is a wonderful exhibit. The photo is of Helena and Lynda standing near a huge oil painting by Thomas Hart Benton. Large view here. Wow! Amazing colors. It's an inspiration to an aspiring artist like me. We all really loved the exhibit.

Afterwards we went to Haggen's for a bit of shopping and then picked up Steve on the way home. He and I played a game of Carcassonne and soon we are all heading out to the Cliff House restaurant. I was cleaning up a bulletin board I have in the kitchen and found a gift certificate under all the papers for $100 that I got last Christmas!! I called and they said that their gift certificates don't expire. Cool! Perfect time to finally use it. :)
