Batten Down The Hatches

We've been home to raging gales all day, with the rain more horizontal than vertical. The trees seem to have been continuously bent over, bashed and bent by the merciless wind. It's not been a day to be outside at all.

As such, I've spent the day at home, electing not to brave the perilous cross-winds on the Akaroa Highway but instead to work from the comfort of the couch. And still, as I write this at 11pm, the winds still howl and the rain still drives against the windows and the tin roof. Restful it is not.

As such, today's blip was taken from a crack in the window at twilight, facing away from the prevailing southerlies into the gloom. Mount Herbert is hidden from view and the cloud seems to get lower and lower.

Welcome to Autumn everyone....
