Midsummer fun..

..in the sun!
One street 33
Our village Gala takes place on the third Saturday in June very year and it is a great event whatever the weather but today on this Midsummers Day it was glorious.
It takes place in the village park which is accessed off my 'one street'.

You can tell how good the weather is by the queue at the ice cream stall. I've worked on this before and it is a very sticky affair. The only thing on a good day is it soon runs out! If you look at this inset shot in LARGE you may spot two fellow blippers from our village. There were at least two others there so you might want to look out for their blips later.

I popped along for an hour to see the parade and have a scout around. Sorry it is a compilation but it is so hard to capture the atmosphere. The parade is always led by a band and this guy leads it really well. Only one float this year due to 'Health and Safety'! It was the Harden Players float which dips mainly adults and they had to agree to take responsibility for any of the children on it! What a sad world we live in. We used to have the school and sometimes both churches with children's floats. At least the Gala Queen and her attendants still get to ride on the back of a vintage vehicle.

Love this event but it always seems to be in the middle of marking and I no longer have any children or indeed parents to take with me. One day........
