Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

At last!

We went to the afternoon film ‘The Imitation Game’. At last! A film that deserves its rave reviews! And I didn’t even have any Maltesers. (Though I did have a Snickers Bar). Tears at the end, too.

Totally mesmerising, wonderfully filmed and acted. BC was Alan Turing - (I see Hollywood had Leonardo de Caprio lined up for the part). What a amazing story. Was there ever a man so wronged by the country that owed him so much?

Winston Churchill considered that Alan Turing contributed more than any individual to winning the war, but he was only given a ‘Royal Pardon’ last year, 2013. Shameful.

Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.

Archie was not in the good books. Though with this face, that can never last long. Today he:

1). barked at a tiny wee puppy on his walk round the block ...
2). ran far away on the Meadows and ‘didn’t hear’ JR calling him ...
3). carelessly left evidence (a bit of red thread) stuck in his tooth - remnants of the tempting tassels on our very expensive rugs ...
4). pulled down a newly ironed tee shirt from the sofa ...

This is his ‘innocent’ look. At the moment he’s running round the whole length of the house like a mad thing, squeaking his toy. Luckily it's not his snake toy, which has a different squeak in each of the many segments, and drives us mad after a couple of minutes.

Don’t worry - he’s already back in the good books…
