Refreshing

A bit of a panic connected with the music group this weekend. The guy who was down to host today's session only told us yesterday morning that he couldn't manage it. Fortunately, one of the others stepped into the breach despite the short notice and had us over to his place instead. That meant that we were in the neighbourhood of one of our GP gang, so I contacted him and invited myself in for a chat after the music - well, after the stop in the pub after the music, to be more precise.

Carl joined us for a couple of pints (my tipple of choice was was this refreshing bottle of Bulmers cider), and talk ended with discussion about our forthcoming trip to Berlin (five weeks away now). The Merrion Inn, the pub we'd retired to, can be a bit on the noisy, uncomfortable side, especially when there's a big rugby international on. Today, though, it was blissfully peaceful and we managed to have a pleasant, civilised chat without having to shout to make ourselves heard. Our visit to our GP buddy turned into a visit to the sick. He's been unwell lately and had collapsed on Thursday in the supermarket across the road. An ambulance had to be called to bring him to the nearby hospital, but he foolishly didn't wait to be attended to, getting fed up after four and a half hours on a trolly and walking out and over to his apartment across the road. He refuses to listen to reason, and nothing we said could convince him to see a doctor or go back to A&E.

Carl and I made our way over to his place, stopping off on the way at Don Mimi's pizzeria in Monkstown to get a couple of pizzas to take away. This was out first time trying Don Mimi's, but I've firmly intended patronising it since Raheny Eye recommended it during my post-op convalescence. Thanks for the recommendation, r_e. We thoroughly enjoyed our Hawaiian and Vegetarian. We'll definitely be back, and might even try eat-in next time.
