Marjorie's ramblings

Mary, the rescuer

Remember it's the Hexham Blipmeet tomorrow. The more the merrier.

Mary, Miranda and I are the team for the Simonburn and Goatstones walk in the Haltwhistle Spring Walking Festival. Today we did the recce of the route.

It sunny and dry all day. The wind was cold but the conditions for walking were excellent. It was even relatively dry underfoot.

We enjoyed the route and made plans for how we three will function as a team on the day. We saw a few early lambs and talked to curious sheep. At Great Lonbrough Farm we met Michael Atkinson and his dog Harry. He has featured here previously.

Then we saw Alistair Lee at Goatstones Farm. It was good to see him out on the quad bike, his injured leg protected by a large plastic bag. (He has a complicated fractured ankle.) He also featured here too.

We found oodles of frog spawn in muddy pools by the trackside. The frogs always spawn here and then the pools dry out, so Mary decided to rescue some for her pond.  She transferred her lunch into a plastic bag and then frog spawn into the lunch box. It is harder than you might imagine.

Mum had a better night last night so I was able to leave her. Her chest is showing some signs of improvement.

Remember it's the Hexham Blipmeet tomorrow.
