Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

If you go down to the woods today......

If they were the Humsford Woods near Bedlington, you may have heard the happy chatter of a group of 7 walkers, all of a certain age, as we made our way along the path by the river Blyth. Gwen and Chris live in Bedlington and they invited Geoff, Sandy, Maureen, Brian and me to go to their house today. We had a walk before a splendid lunch.

It is true that it rained all day. As you can see, this did not bother us, although most of the group chose not to go and pose on the stepping stones!

We met two men who had stopped to look at a red squirrel, perched high in a tree. One of them does red squirrel conservation, which means that he traps and disposes of the greys. His two dogs were unimpressed and wondered why they had to stop for so long. (Neither was a Bedlington terrier.)

Next month we are going to Geoff and Sandy's house. (Hoping for better weather by then.....)

While I was away, Carol very kindly came and transported Mum to the Hexham Embroiderers' Guild. The talk was about the beautiful silk woven postcards that were sent during WW1. Mum enjoyed it.

Just when I was leaving this morning, we had a call on Facetime from Margaret and Peter in Australia. I could tell them about those lovely roses.

It's been a very relaxing day.
