Hayling Island

This morning I woke up on Hayling Island on the south coast. I was visiting friends yesterday. We met up in Chichester, ran some errands and went back to their place for dinner. Carole recently retired from a long career as a Flight Attendant at both Pan Am and United, and it was good to catch up with her again. Three years ago Dolly and I joined them on a camping trip in the New Forest, they in their caravan and me in my tent.

Anyway, we had lots to talk about and eventually it was decided that I would spend the night. After a leisurely breakfast I left, and on my way I had a long walk along the beach near their house. It was a grey and windy day, but there was no rain so I was still able to enjoy an hours brisk walk to blow away the cobwebs. Unlike the muddy beach walk a couple of days ago in Weston-super-Mare, this beach was made up of large pebbles.

I've always loved beach huts and so I enjoyed taking a good look at a few of them. They are exceedingly expensive to rent or buy (see here and here for examples) but the idea of a cute little shelter on the beach is almost irresistible!  See the Extra photo for more examples!

I drove home via Southampton where I had another errand and finally picked up Dolly on the way home. A happy reunion!
