It's raining!

I have been to visit my mother today, a two hour drive each way. She was as good as I've seen her for a long time although she's a poor old thing really. Growing so old is cruel, nothing to do and nowhere to go and no real purpose in life - just existing and awaiting the inevitable end.

I went on to the house where she used to live and got rid of the junk mail. We are in the process of clearing everything out and selling it. Sad really, but it made the point that earthly possessions are not important, once the person is not living there is just a shell to be discarded. I took a few books back to mum along with a couple of pictures and some photos which will be put up in her room.

Then the drive home when the weather closed in again. Despite the rain, I decided to detour through Woburn Safari park but, as I suspected, all sensible animals had found shelter. I noticed this little giraffe peering out in the hope, perhaps, that he would be able to get out and play with his friends. No chance. The rain has continued all evening.
