Pond Life

The warm weather has brought the damselflies to our little garden pond.  There were several of the large red variety in evidence today, as well as one of the common blues.  It was also quite breezy which made getting this shot a little more difficult than was ideal.  

As you can see this male is busy clinging on to the leaf of a marsh marigold in the breeze.  The marsh marigolds took a bit of a pounding earlier in the week when a flock of (mainly) juvenile starlings arrived one morning for a drink.  They were brilliantly entertaining and very boisterous, although I stupidly didn't manage to think of taking a photo until it was too late.
