Life in Sunny Dubai

Guinness Book

I have been catching up with my blips, but not in sequence!

Today was non-stop! I dropped G at work and then sat at the beach sorting some things out whilst waiting to get to a 10am appointment nearby. In the end, I just showed up early and soon found that it wasn't something worth pursuing, so made my way to my "office" in the Lebanese cafe at The Mall.

We headed to Dubai Mall mainly to look for a gift for a friend. First time there this year, and we walked into the area where they have this display of giant baubles which have got Dubai into the Guinness Book of Records again. We found a suitable gift - handmade luxury chocolates and then came home to get ready for an early dinner.

Jones the Grocer at Emirates Golf Club was the venue of choice. It was in a part of town I really struggle with and sure enough, we missed a turn and ended up being fifteen minutes late, but that was more because when we got to the Club House, there was no parking. We later found that in "normal" times, the reserved bays can be used by anyone and we also found people driving in the wrong direction to what the arrows on the ground were saying! There you go. Too law abiding.

We had a fantastic evening with Jessica. Lots of chat and time vanished as it always does. It was my first time ever in the Club House (it was built in 1988). I was too tired to think about blipping when I got home.
