Marjorie's ramblings

Grandpa

We were up and off early this morning for the eagerly awaited appointment at Sunderland Eye Infirmary. As usual, we were greeted with good humour and helpfulness from everyone we met. The nurses went out of their way to make Mum comfortable and the consultant was superb. She is a specialist in eyelid surgery. After her assessment, she advised that Mum has splints to raise her eyelids and to allow her to see. If this works, it will obviate the need for surgery. If it doesn't, then surgery is still an option.

We probably have to go to an optician in Durham for the splints to be fitted, but I'm sure we can manage that.

We had lunch with Eric (my cousin) and his wife, Pauline. It was good to catch up. They had no child care duties today so we were able to hear about all the family, especially the new baby, Sarah, in Manila.

In the kitchen there was a wall of children's artwork produced by Kara (3), Brodie (5) and Fraizer (7). I particularly liked this one of Eric, aka Grandpa. He does have ginger hair, but not quite as long as this (!!) and I don't know when he last went bathing in the sea in his trunks. This was crafted by Brodie.

Arth is very swollen so I've had to elevate him and apply ice. Hoping he settles down soon.
