Mae'r dre Forchtenstein yn agos at y ffin rhwng Awstria a Hwngari.  Mae'r tir wedi newid dwylo dros y blynyddoedd.  Ar ddiwedd yr Ymerodraeth Austro-Hwngari roedd y tir yn rhannu rhwng y ddwy wlad newydd.  Er mae'n yn Awstria, mae'r Castell Forchtenstein yn dal yn perchen gyda theulu Hwngari Esterházy.

The town of Forchtenstein is close to the border between Austria and Hungary. The land has changed hands over the years. At the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire the land was  divided between the two new countries. Although in Austria, Forchtenstein Castle is still owned by the Hungarian family of Esterházy.
