Life in Sunny Dubai

The big party

Well, the day finally arrived for SweetArt's party. Her birthday is next week, but she chose the date so G could be at the party before she flew back to Dubai, but all plans changed.

The day started busy putting the final touches to the house for rachelwhynot's arrival. Ben and I went to collect her from the airport while Sandy and Martin organised the last things. Martin made lunch - chicken curry and chickpea rice to my Dad's recipe - just for ME! It was delicious!

Sandy and Ben went down to the venue to decorate along with some of Sandy's friends; Martin, Eileen and I stayed back just to get some rest, but that was impossible. Anyway, we all made it to the venue in time after a manic hour with everyone doing what they needed to get ready.

A hire car (shared taxi as opposed to the public bus) was the chosen method to get to the venue. Sandy's friends from yesterday's Happy Hour organised it. We arrived and saw the work that had been done earlier. (My main blip). It took a couple of hours and I can see why. Sandy had put a lot of thought into her decorations, the same way as she did for her cake.

There were fifty guests or more through the evening, and it was all very relaxed and casual. The cake cutting time finally arrived, and my little DSLR managed to get a decent group shot using the built-in flash (see Extra). We had some dancing too. As it was a weeknight, the venue started winding down after 10pm, so after packing everything up, we made it home just after 11, travelling on two buses! Ben put the pictures up for us to view on the TV, so there wasn't any energy or time left to think about blipping. Phew.
