An ordinary life....

Lochearnhead...

Backblipped

When Fiona was home on a previous visit she was involved in painting a penguin as part of Maggie's Penguin Parade.  Whilst doing that she met and made friends with another artist called Gail, who turned out to be the local artist who painted our house.  It's a small world :-) so we contacted Gail to see if she was free to come for brunch this morning and to our delight, she was.

She arrived at 10am and we chatted non stop whilst enjoying pancakes, bacon with maple syrup, and coffee.  It was really lovely to see her as well as Fiona.

Gail left just after 11.30 as she had an appointment and then David, Fiona and I headed off for a wee drive around Loch Earn.  Another artist friend of Fiona's is painting a commission for a well known Scot and Fiona wanted to do a bit of location scouting for a setting for the commission.

Thankfully the rain stayed away and we had a lovely drive round the loch from St Fillans to Lochearnhead and then a little drive down the single track road on the south side of the loch.  My blip was taken from there.

We headed towards Callander through Balquidder and Kilmahog before stopping at the restaurant at Doune Art and Antique Centre for a late lunch.

It's a lovely little restaurant and we've always enjoyed the food there.  We were particularly impressed this time as Fiona is gluten free and they had the main menu plus a gluten free menu that contained nearly all the choices on the main menu, as well as a range of vegetarian options.  Lovely and cosy to sit opposite the lovely fire on such a cold day.

We finally had to tear ourselves away in order to get Fiona back to Dunblane to catch her train at 5.45pm.

It was so lovely to see her.  She's hoping to be back again in the summer to hopefully not to long to another get together :-)
