Marjorie's ramblings

A curate's egg of a birthday

By this morning it was obvious that Daisy was poorly. She was not eating or drinking and was unable to muster up enough strength to talk to us.

My birthday began with a 'phone call to the vet and an urgent appointment later in the morning. I even managed to pop her into the basket without too much protest.

At the vet's I made the acquaintance of this friendly and gentle girl. Her owner is holding her to stop her from running towards me and spoiling her photograph. She was also off her food and under the weather.

The vet could not have been nicer. She kept Daisy under a blanket all the time and managed to examine her with minimum fuss. There was no obvious cause for the vomiting, so she gave Daisy an anti sickness jab and a subcutaneous fluid injection to keep her hydrated.

Once home, Daisy disappeared for hours into some hidey hole. She is brighter this evening, but still not eating or drinking.

Liz came in the early afternoon so we did a lot of catching up.

Then it was Dorothy's 90th birthday party in The Crown. Her birthday was yesterday, but there were two of us today who are birthday twins on 17th. There was lots of chat, drink, food and a magnificent cake with indoor fireworks for a candle.

Back home in time for the other  Marjorie and Julie to arrive to share a meal with me. We had a very good and interesting discussion about all sorts of things.  Julie is staying over.

Fingers crossed that Daisy improves, otherwise she will be admitted tomorrow for a drip and blood tests etc.
