The Evening Twitter

It's so very quiet in the village. There is far less traffic on the main and side roads, the construction site in the middle of the village is largely devoid of workers and silent, and even the playing field is empty... In a strange way it feels like the village we moved into twenty years ago, when we exchanged busy central Bristol for a rural life.

Gradually, everyday life is withdrawing and everything around becomes zones of "out there"... our walk around the village today - maintaining appropriate social distancing from the few others we saw - was a necessary break from too many moments of "putting the kettle on". I probably need to wind in the comfort eating...

It was a bit too damp to be bothered with the bike today, and the rest of the week appears to have turned grim in the forecast. Happily, the pinball machine doesn't care if I spray the flipper buttons with disinfectant, and the Internet remains intact. Gods, imagine if that went down... the end of life as we know it!

Everyone seems to be posting green today. The snakes that Pádraig (he is not actually an official Saint) ran out of Ireland were likely the Druids, so you'll forgive me if I don't celebrate too loudly. Therefore we'll go with this red fellow, who is singing the twilight in beautifully from the bushes at the end of the garden.
