Nostalgia

Wrongly thought today was going to be a better one. There has been some very heavy showers and it’s been damp and dull at all times.
Chris has potted up two of the Alstroemerias we bought last weekend and this one is called Inca Coral. Looking great even when wet so it is my choice for today’s flower Friday blip. The one in the extra is called Inca Sweety and we have a white one and a deep red one.

Yesterday my daughter sent a picture on our family Whats app of a recipe book she found of favourite recipes she’d put together when she went to Uni.It was open on the page of a sausage casserole that I used to make with with kids in school many years ago and it was always a favourite with Grace. Eagle eyed brother Alex spotted the recipe for Sunflower crunch on the next page and as a result I have made him some today. I did used to make it fairly regularly for him when he first came home from Scotland but it must have been a while as I couldn’t find the right tin. That must have gone when we did up the kitchen a couple of years ago. Sadly Eda can’t yet eat oats she has to wait a year from her Coeliac diagnosis. Maybe it will be something I can make her in the future.

Last night we had a nostalgic sing of songs from our teens with our on line singing group, good fun. After, I took Merril ( Seriously?)’s advice to watch the Globe production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream‘ on You Tube.  As she said it was excellent. Unfortunately I stopped  just after half time as it was Midnight and so have watched most of the second half this afternoon. Probably the funniest bit. I could happily watch it again.
Appropriate timing of course as we approach midsummer this weekend in the northern hemisphere.
It’s hard to believe it’s here already, I hope the weather gets the message.

Have a good weekend and stay safe.
