Marjorie's ramblings

Sadbury Hill

Today I went on a socially distanced walk with Alistair, Peter, John, Kate and Dave. We did a very pleasant nine mile circular from Wark village. The route joined the Pennine Way for a while. Most of it was little walked and quite lush.

Despite the forecast, there was no rain. It was a great day out.

On Sadbury Hill, by Sadbury Hill Farm, we found a few old cars. This old Jag attracted most interest from the blokes. Here is Alistair investigating the engine and wondering if the car might be worth a bob or two!

Back at home to find that someone has run their vehicle twice over my centre border and destroyed about half of the bedding plants. It was looking lovely. How can anyone fail to see it? How can anyone run over it twice?

Life in the Time of Covid
I continue to enjoy various online talks. This weekend was the Bradford Literary Festival. Do watch this one if you can. It's a remarkable conversation between Lemn Sissay (poet and author) and Christopher Eccleston (actor) based on the autobiographies they have both written. At times it is a riot, but the truths they speak about children in care and about masculinity and mental illness are profound.

I have decided to have the operation. We have a possible plan of care in place depending on whether one person has recovered from illness by then, but we have a back up plan. Mum is already organising how we will manage the things we do easily between us at the moment.
